What an excellent day yesterday and we’re looking forward to another today. So many things got done, so many more took place that I had hoped to do; oh man are my legs sore. There is a reason I called this article “Bike Bike Bike”, cause other than my wife, Marley, family, friends, and our munchkins; all I can think about is my bike.
The day started sort of normal however the term normal just doesn’t quite fit into our lives. Pugsley and I woke so that he could make a number two and Annika got up with Lilith so that she could start her bouncing off of the walls routine.
After feeding the munchkins their breakfast and finishing our cups of coffee, Annika started her Peloton workout for the day before she headed off to her office. She has been thoroughly enjoying the Peloton since it allows her to get a nice workout every morning since she has a crazy work schedule. When she completed her workout and left out, I started getting things organized so that I could start a workout as well. When I got on the Peloton bike after getting the munchkins down for their after breakfast nap, I went to select a scenic ride and for some reason decided to do a 60 minute to start.
A 60-minute ride on a Peloton bike is like pulling an 18-wheeler up a 5-degree pitch for a full day, oh my how it was an epic workout. When I had completed the 60-minute indoor cycling ride I instantly started another ride and then after that once I started again. Once the pain started on the first ride I wanted more, I love to climb. After I finished my indoor cycling rides on the Peloton I started getting the tasks done around our home as well as my workload for the day. I did a short Twitch stream playing Overwatch and afterward, I began to work on my road bike (Icarus).
When I went into the bike room to check on Icarus, she had a flat tire in the same tire that I had just fixed from the blow out the other day with Jeff.
Those were brand new tires, we had just had them installed and the wheels trued. A dang piece of class tore right through them while Jeff and I were riding. We fixed the tire on the trail and all was good to ride home, I then parked Icarus until yesterday when I found out that the tire had several pieces of glass still stuck in the tread. One piece of glass has punctured the new tube causing it to lose air, I decided to pop the tire off, pull all of the items from the tread and put it all back together. I used the same tube since the puncture wasn’t that big of a deal since I was planning on putting sealant in it.
After cleaning up the tire and tube, also marking the spots that had holes in the tube and tire so that I could keep tabs, I installed them onto my rear rim. Once it was all put together I added air up to 100psi and gave it a few minutes to see the leak. I hooked back up the pump to see where the air was at after 5 minutes, it had dropped 40psi; time to remove the core and add sealant. I popped out the valve core of the tube and installed the orange sealant and then put the core back for airing up. 80psi added to the tire and then I started spinning the tire while it was back mounted onto the frame. I continued spinning the tire at about 20mph over and over for about 15 minutes and then I topped the air off at 100psi. Once I had topped the air I went to have some lunch and get the munchkins their lunch. Coming back after lunch I checked the tire, it hadn’t lost any air; I was then getting excited. My tire was fixed and I really wanted to take it for a spin.
Alexa said it was 99-degrees outside, the munchkins were sleeping and I wanted to ride my bike; game on. I rushed to get my gear onto the bike and my cycling kit on as I raced out the door for a quick ride. Within seconds I was doing 30mph and happy as could be to be riding my bike outside. I was having a blast riding Icarus around town however I had to get back real quick since Annika was soon to be home; so I headed back to get cleaned up. When I arrived I had only been gone 20ish minutes and had gotten a slight sunburn; that was a fun 5.5 miles.
When I had gotten home it was very laughable to see that the munchkins were inspecting my bike as I came into the house. Little did I know they were just trying to hide the fact that they had a party when I was gone.
Adventure’s of our Little Munchkins (Our Furry Critters)
Pugsley and Lilith had pulled the covers off of their crates, took all of their toys out all across the house, they simply had a blast; so funny. These two munchkins have some serious personalities.
Pugsley loves to pose for pictures when outside and Lilith never holds still for a photo, getting a picture of her is very hard. Typically I get a black furry blur in a still image, this is why we don’t have many pictures of her in the articles each day. She is daily becoming more and more loveable and playful, both Lilith and Pugsley are almost inseparable.
Taking Pugsley outside is a very funny task as he loves to walk right out to the shade and stretch out. Yesterday when we went outside there was a little debris due to the wind and he couldn’t stop picking everything up and wanting to take it home with him.
It’s daily happiness playing with these two little munchkins if only Marley were here too.
Today’s Adventure and/or Plan
Today we’re chilling together as a family day, Annika, Pugsley, Lilith, and I. We’re enjoying our coffee, we slept in, we plan to visit Dave and run a few errands; that’s about it. Nothing major on the schedule today other than enjoying the day together followed by some pc gaming on Overwatch and maybe a movie; maybe we will go out to eat? Not sure at the moment, we’re simple today.
You Know the Drill
Alright, gang, You know the drill. Time for coffee and to get the day started, we can’t thank you all enough for the support and we look forward to bringing you another day in our nutty life tomorrow. Have an epic adventure day. Also a special note, we’ve updated some of the information below and even added to it.
“You’ve reached the end of today’s story”
We like to keep in mind daily that not only are we always focusing on riding our bikes long distance but also that many people we know or even do not know are out on the roads and trails traveling. So if you’re out on the road driving a car please be extra cautious and watch for cyclists who may be on the road with you day or night.
We are working on a project called #AZBIKEANDHIKE. Currently, we have a Strava Club set up for #AZBIKENHIKE‘s Cycling and Hiking. We’re working on the website as we plan it to be a community for the people in Arizona that love to ride bikes and hike. Our goal is to also share great places to get gear, trails to ride or hike, and just awesome fun places to enjoy the outdoors in Arizona. More details to come as this project progresses, we can say at this time that this site will not rely or have profiles on any social media such as Twitter, Facebook, or other.
